The JK Wrangler has been around since 2006 so it is not exactly up to date. Despite that it still manages to impress with its great off-road performance and rugged design. After many rumors about a new model, not that long ago the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been confirmed. Prototypes of the car have been seen ever since 2016 and through the months of development the prototype did change quite a bit. The new model is expected to be released with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler and it will come with some interesting upgrades. For starters, the new model remains a body-on-frame SUV, so all that ruggedness is there to stay.
Also, even though some suggested the new Wrangler will feature a fully independent suspension, this proved to be wrong. Instead, the new model will feature solid axles, just like its predecessor. This not only allows for great stock off-road performance but it also means it should be very easy to upgrade in the future.
With this model there is also going to be a pickup version but this might be sold under a different name. The regular two-door Wrangler is likely going to cost well under $30,000 for a base model with the four-door starting at little over that.

With all the upgrades the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler is not going to be luxury vehicle. It will be aimed at a completely different market that wants comfort, reliability and great performance on and off the road. Even though it will be all new, the wheelbase will be mostly identical to its predecessor, so the amount of room available to the passengers won’t change much.
It seems though that Jeep is going for a less vertical design than before. A new dashboard, new seats with better side bolsters as well as possibly new rear seats that would be pushed back would provide all five passengers more legroom and headroom than before. Also, the new dashboard would free up a lot of space which would make the Wrangler feel larger than it really is.
The exterior is not actually going to change all that much from what is currently available. The seven slats grille will stay and so will the round headlights. The front end will be slightly more angled in order to become more aerodynamic while the bumper will change for the safety of the pedestrians. Unlike the older car, the new model won’t feature removable doors and windshield.
This is a huge drawback, especially if Jeep decides to offer the aluminum body they said they will a while back. Also, instead of a full soft-top the new model will receive only a partial soft-top and only on certain models. The rest of them will come with either a fixed roof or a removable hard-top.

Under the hood
So far two engines have been confirmed to be used with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. On top of that, we expect a revised 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 as the base engine but this time with closer to 320 horsepower. As an option Jeep’s brand new Hurricane 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 is likely going to be an option. Most rumors suggest this engine will make 300 horsepower and over 300 lb-ft of torque. This means comparable performance to the V6 with better fuel efficiency and a more compact package. With this model Jeep will also add a 3 liter turbo-diesel V6 with around 240 horsepower and over 400 lb-ft of torque. While a 6 speed manual is going to be offered on the two gas engines, the diesel might only come with the usually optional 8 speed ZF-automatic. In order to keep up with its predecessor, it will most definitely come with a standard four wheel drive system.
