Buick Enclave is an eight-year old crossover which is still currently in its first generation. Things are changing, however, as 2016 Buick Enclave should be the first model of the next generation. Apart from exterior changes, it might receive some new tech options as well, but as far as powertrain department is concerned, things will most likely remain as they are.
2016 Buick Enclave Engine
Enclave doesn’t make compromises. It offers 3.6L V6 engine as a solemn option and its 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque are adequate. However, stronger option wouldn’t be unappreciated, especially since we’re talking about a full-size luxury crossover SUV here.
Apart from front and all-wheel drive, Enclave gives you 6-speed automatic transmission which now works much better than it was the case in previous versions.
Of all GM’s full-size crossovers, 2016 Buick Enclave takes the biscuit in design department, especially exterior one. Waterfall grille, large headlights and curved rear end all look good. Of course, complete redesign which is pending has to be taken into account, but knowing GM, they won’t change the winning combination, at least not much. People can expect all the features that adorn current model to be carried over and slightly enriched in the future.
Interior of Buick Enclave
2016 Buick Enclave is able to seat up to eight passengers, though seven is more likely number. Whichever is the case, space is abundant and even third row of seats is roomier than it is the case in some competitors.
Needless to say, first couple of rows are spacious even for largest of adults. This premium ute can be quite lavishly adorned in top grades, but entry-level models don’t fall in behind either. In fact, there are only three models branded Convenience, Leather and Premium group respectively.
All offer leather seats, of course, with the difference that most expensive model adds standard ventilated front seats, a few more convenience options and standard Bose premium sound system consisting of 10 speakers.
They also come with standard navigation which is utilized over 6.5-inch touch screen display that sits in the middle of instrument column, coated in wood. DVD rear seat entertainment system with roof-mounted display can also be ordered, but only as an option across the board.
Enclave is one of the safest large crossovers out there. It offers standard rearview camera, blind-spot monitors with cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning, but its real advantage are superb NHTSA and IIHS crash-test marks.
Front-wheel drive models are rated at 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive versions come up with 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
2016 Buick Enclave Price
Most affordable models are Convenience group versions with FWD which cost $39,000, while most expensive ones are AWD, Premium ones which cost more than $49,000.
2016 Buick Enclave is a fashionable family crossover with three rows of seats and plenty of room all around. This luxury ute performs admirably, but it has to be noted that it rides quite big, which it is. However, sheer refinement and design can work wonders sometimes, and that is the exact case with Enclave here.
