Last year, there have been rumors about Jaguar planned a new crossover that is to become the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace. Of course, there is no way of knowing what it is going to be like, as the Evoque is the closest thing we have for comparison and this is the best guess so far. Here is what we have on the E-Pace, along with what we can reasonably expect.
Release Date of 2018 Jaguar E-Pace
It is far too early to talk about the release date for the 2018 E-Pace, especially if we consider that the first unveiling is at least a year away. At this point, the deliveries will most likely start in 2018.
2018 Jaguar E-Pace Price
The price range for the 2018 E-Pace is most likely going to be in the $30-35,000 area, for the base version. Of course, this is only the best guess, considering there have been no official announcements in this regard.
Of course, Evoque is not the only vehicle that might influence the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace; the F-Pace is just as likely to fill that role. The cues should be visible in the grille, side mirrors, LED headlights and taillights as well as the entire front fascia.
Of course, the size is going to matter, and since the E-Pace is supposed to be the smaller cousin to the F-Pace, we can expect these elements to be on a much smaller scale and the overall approach to be as minimalistic as possible.
We can expect the E-Pace to be significantly shorter than its larger cousins at least 20 or 30 cm in legnth and 10 to 20 cm in width. The weight reduction might come at a cost, however, as this means there will be less room for the occupants. Speaking of which…
Interior of 2018 Jaguar E-Pace
Even though there is no way of knowing what the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is going to look like on the inside, the F-Pace and the Evoque should give us an idea. The steering wheel, dashboard and the console should be roughly similar to what we can see on the F-Pace.
The choice of materials is not going to change much and the indoor space will most likely feel some of the reduction due to the smaller dimensions o the vehicle. A large portion of the central section is going to be reserved for the infotainment system, but these are all speculations at this point. When we find out more, so will you.
At this early stage in development, even the guys at Jaguar don’t know exactly what kind of engine is going to find its way to the hood of the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace.
It is most likely going to be a four-cylinder engine with roughly 250 hp and the similar number of lb-ft as far as torque goes. A diesel version similar to the TD4 we can see in its larger relatives would be a good guess as well. If you were looking for a V6, you might be up for a disappointment, but who knows…
