Well, it took them a while but people over at Ford finally managed to improve on a number of features for the upcoming 2018 Ford Expedition. By reducing the overall mass and tweaking the engines for more power, they have produced one heck of an SUV. There are still similarities with the F-150 but we won’t go there this time.
2018 Ford Expedition Release Date
We can expect to see this model as early as 2017.
Price of 2018 Ford Expedition
Te price tag starts at $47,000 and could climb as high as $70,000.
Exterior of Ford Expedition 2018
The 2018 Ford Expedition is going for a completely new look this time around. This means the front grille as well as LED headlights are going to feature a lot more chrome than usual.
We could not see many differences in terms of other parts of the vehicle. From the sides, it looks about the same including the length and other dimensions.
The aerodynamics has been improved slightly, though, mostly because of a new windshield. Overall, this is going to be a model that is about utility as much as it is about looking badass.
2018 Ford Expedition Interior
Sadly, we know next to nothing on what the 2018 Ford Expedition is going to look like on the inside. This does not mean there isn’t anything to be said on this front.
We can safely expect it to be able to accommodate up to 8 people across three rows of seats, with lots of head and legroom even in that third row. Keep in mind that the number of rows is not set.
If you have a smaller family than that or simply do not see yourself chauffeuring a bunch of people, you could simply go for larger seats and take two rows like a standard car would.
These could also be foldable for some extra cargo space for when you need it. If you did not dish out for a more expensive trim, you’ll have to fold them manually, though.
As for all the goodies inside, we can expect SYNC3 to make an appearance, along with the latest in safety equipment.
We are talking about lane departure warning, keep assist, park assist, monitors for blind spots and an emergency braking system.
Ford Expedition 2018 Engine
Even though it is still far too early to talk about the kind of engine Ford will put under the hood of the 2018 Expedition, there are lots of rumors on this front and we simply cannot pass up on those.
For starters, there is an upgraded version of the 3.5 L EcoBoost engine which now dishes out roughly 375 hp and a whopping 4770 lb-ft of torque which, if true, will surpass many of the current models with a V-8 powertrain.
As transmission goes, a 10-speed automatic seems to be the only way to go here. Still, if F-150 is the norm, this need not be such a bad thing as it really boosts performance and acceleration.
Now, there are also rumors about a turbo-diesel version but these have yet to be confirmed.
