The 2018 Ford Edge Sport is a long way ahead, but already there are lots of rumors circulating it. Here is what we know thus far.
2018 Ford Edge Sport Release Date
The release date is most likely late 2017 or early 2018.
Price for Ford Edge Sport
The old price range puts a huge pressure on Ford to keep the base version as close to the $30,000 figure as possible, without sacrificing any of its core features.
But don’t worry, there will be lots of additional equipment to cover the costs.
Exterior of Ford Edge Sport 2018
It is not exactly easy to guess what the 2018 Ford Edge Sport is going to look like from the outside once it is assembled, but based on prior experience, we know what to expect at least.
It is hard to believe that the old aggressive look characterized by strong body lines is simply going to disappear. The new grille and materials are going to be the biggest changes compared to what the Edge used to be.
Also, the previous models were criticized for having a relatively high center of gravity, so lowering it would likely improve stability of the vehicle, but it would inevitably affect its appearance as well.
As a finisher, a brand new pair of LED headlights and taillights would be perfect.
Interior of Ford Edge Sport
Much like the exterior, the inside of the 2018 Ford Edge Sport is under the veil of secrecy, so there is not much to tell at this point.
However, the old central console layout is bound to change, with additional possible changes to the air vents or the central button array. Still, the gauge cluster as well as the steering wheel will offer the same old reliability we have all come to appreciate over the years.
Also, rumors suggest that the cabin will be more quiet than ever, thanks to additional noise dampening materials protecting the occupants from the outside noises as well as the sound of the engine itself.
And if that is not enough, perhaps the new sound system should eliminate all the undesirable noise, all thanks to the innovative infotainment MyFord system.
Also, there should be more legroom thanks to the further reduction in the size of the seats, but this part has yet to be confirmed.
Ford Edge Sport Engine
The engine selection of the 2018 Ford Edge Sport is still very much a mystery, for almost anyone outside a selected team of Ford’s engineers, and they aren’t talking.
On the other hand, it is hard to imagine them coming up with something vastly superior to the old EcoBoost lineup, be it the 2.0, 2.7 or the 3.5 L V6. The old figures of 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque at the lowest level are bound to be improved upon, albeit moderately.
Of course, even the higher-tier engines have to be capable of dishing out more ponies and torque than ever, up to 340 hp and 390 lb-ft as the highest possible output.
The older models had both front and all-wheel drive available, and this selection will likely carry over into the next installment in the series.
