The new Enclave has been released a few months ago on a brand new platform. Despite the fact the car is smaller than its predecessor, it now offers with up to 10% more space inside the cabin. This is mostly thanks to GM’s modular front wheel drive platform which underpins the new car. Thanks to the new platform the Enclave is also considerably lighter than before. Thanks to the weight loss the car is considerably better to drive and also more comfortable. In order to become even better, a few weeks back they released the 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir. If the Avenir brand sounds familiar that’s because back in 2015 Buick showcased a high end luxury concept named the Avenir.
What is the new Avenir then?
Well, it seems that all of their future flagship cars are going to be called Avenir which is now their new brand for top end models. The Enclave is the first of many and so far it has been making quite an impression. Unfortunately Buick didn’t release the pricing for the new model just yet.
Considering all the features it boasts as standard though, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new Enclave Avenir is going to cost north of $50,000. On top of that extras will add up, so expect the top end models to cost north of $60,000 which would make it one of their most expensive models to date.
2018 Buick Enclave Avenir design
There aren’t that many differences between the 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir and the regular Enclave. The biggest difference is in the front. Here the car boasts an entirely new 3D grille which is set to be offered on all the future Avenir-branded cars.
With the new grille the car also gets, as standard, LED headlights and tail lights, 20 inch nickel-plated wheels and a unique set of color choices. The rear is mostly the same as that of the V6 models with the only difference being the extra chrome.
The interior of 2018 Buick Avenir
Inside the cabin there is a completely different story. While the design didn’t change a bit from the regular car, all the upholstery did. For starters, the Avenir is available with a combination of Avenir Chestnut and Ebony leather for a truly premium experience. Everything is soft to the touch while the leather seems to be of a really high quality.
The Avenir badge has been stitched into the headrests of the front seats, so the car will be easy do differentiate from the regular models. An 8 inch infotainment system is going to be offered as standard with GM’s latest customizable interface. They will also include a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot as standard which is otherwise unavailable on most of its rivals. The best part about the Avenir is that it will still come with 7 seats as standard. This would make it the perfect family hauler, especially with all the features and luxury it can offer even in its base trim.
Under the hood
The 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir is going to hit the market with just a single engine choice. This will be the same 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 as all the other front wheel drive GM products. The engine will provide 302 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque which will be routed to the front wheels via a brand new 9 speed automatic. In this spec the car will be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds which is pretty much the standard in its class. An optional all wheel drive will also be available but this will more than likely decrease the maximum tow rating. Even so, it will still be capable of north of 4,000 pounds which is actually quite good for all the gear and luxury features it comes with.
