A year or two from now, there will be another Buick on the streets – the 2018 Buick Anthem, to be precise. This crossover is going to be anything except ordinary, based on GM’s “Delta” architecture which should give it all the design and safety features involved. Still, customers in Europe might be disappointed, as this model seems to be reserved for customers in North America and China only. Still, let’s see what it might look like, once it is finally complete.
Since the Chinese can be relied on to provide an effective work force, there should be new Anthems as early as late 2017.
Price for Buick Anthem 2018
The starting price is expected to be roughly $30,000.
2018 Buick Anthem Exterior
On the outside, the 2018 Buick Anthem is going for some sleek visual appearance, with a few new tones and a light facelift, but nothing too significant.
The new grille should give it a more aggressive and muscular look, bringing some minor changes to the entire front fascia as well by extension. Out with the old headlamps, and in with the new LEDs, as well as fog lights below those.
In the rear, the tail lights are going to sport a slightly different shape, but nothing too radical. Of course, there are slight changes in the body line as well, in order to add to the aerodynamic features and improve driving performance.
The wheel selection will likely start at 17 inches, but additional options are certainly be included, for a modest price, of course.
Interior of Buick Anthem
On the inside, the 2018 Buick Anthem is going for a luxurious vibe, with comfort and safety being the main goals. As for the upholstery, full leather is going to be the norm, along with some fine cloth, aluminum and wood.
In fact, there may even be a touch of carbon fiber, just for the heck of it. Still, it is far too early to talk about these features, as most of them are speculations at best. The old infotainment relied on an 8-inch touchscreen for delivery as well as the Intelli Link for software components.
This, alongside heated seats and a cool surround sound system are the main selling points for this vehicle, at least when it comes to its interior. The safety has also been improved, but so far people over at Buick are reluctant to disclose more on this matter.
Buick Anthem Engine
For starters, there should be a 2.5 L four-banger with the capacity to produce more than 200 horsepower and almost as much pound-feet of torque – only 190.
The other option – the 2.0 L V6 – is likely to bring more power to the table, along with 100 extra ponies and +60 lb-ft of torque, bringing the numbers to 300 and 250 respectively, albeit at the cost of higher fuel consumption. Either way, the power will be transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
