It took a while, but the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is just behind the proverbial corner, literally and metaphorically.
We can expect to see the new Prius and its proud owners as early as this fall.
2017 Toyota Prius Prime Price
What price can you put on the environment? How much is it worth to save the Earth?
Apparently, $30,000 or so the people over at Toyota and their customers seem to agree on.Additional equipment adds to the cost, of course.
The exterior of the 2017 Toyota Prius is pretty typical, and this is a good thing. Aesthetics gave way to low air resistance, as you can see if you take a look at the automatic grille shutter and numerous other features.
That being said, there is a bold stylish statement here and there, especially in the front fascia department, with quad LEDs and vertical daytime running lights are perfectly paired up, and the rear features a similar arrangement as well.
The rear isn’t going to add to your sex appeal or anything like that, but it will make a statement about the ecology, which is what Prius owners typically care for the most.
Their statement is that they reject those fancy gas-guzzlers and this is what they truly want in life. Not exactly appealing, but it seems to work in this particular case.
Other than the slight increase in size, however, externally the model isn’t so different than it used to be.
Interior of Toyota Prius Prime
The interior of the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is going to be just as futuristic as we are used to, complete with an impressive 11.6-inch infotainment screen and a 4.2-inch multi-informational display for stuff such as the speed of the vehicle etc.
With additional space and foldable seats, there should be plenty of room for four occupants, or extra cargo space if the rear seats are folded. The sound-proofing is excellent, thanks to the new glass materials and technology.
Navigation is the norm, as is the rear camera, heated seats and climate control. Connectivity is increased so that you can control a number of things inside your car via an app on your Smartphone.
You can check the charging status, control the A/C unit, find locations you can charge at, as well as use the full connectivity spectrum of USBs, Bluetooth etc.
Toyota Prius Engine
The engine is the part of the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime that matters the most. Utilizing Toyota’s signature Synergy Drive, consisting of a regular engine and an electric motor, paired up to a CVT, it can be charged from a standard socket in under six hours, or half that if you can use a 240-volt source.
The battery has a capacity of 8.8-kWh and the engine is the 1.8 L four-banger with a 40% thermal efficiency and a lot of power over standard hybrids.
With all these technologies, the new Prius should be able to cover 22 miles solely on its battery or cover 600 miles if you combine it with the full gas tank. The top speed should be 125 mph.
