The 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman brings little in terms of change compared to the rest of the lineup, but it does boast a stronger engine than most as well as some nice features that truly make it the jack of all trades. Having said that, it is unlikely to be a master of any of them, so keep your expectations in check. Built for off-road driving, it does not mean it would be out of its element in the urban jungle, if you can afford the gas.
We can expect to see the 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman at the same time as the rest of the lineup, meaning by the end of the year, if they aren’t available already.
2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman Price
The current estimate of the price of the 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman base model is roughly $46,600.
Of course, this does not include different bed and cabin trims, nor any of the additional equipment that may end up significantly inflating the price of the truck.
On the outside, a lot of changes for the 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman model seem to concern its grille. With striking similarities to the 1500 Rebel, it is also an acquired taste, although buyers do not seem deterred that much.
It now features a design with double hoops, complete with RAM’s logo in full chrome. The 17-inch wheels now boast more aluminum than ever and far less chrome than last year’s model.
This truck is simply screaming for attention. In the rear, we can expect changes to the bed, including the optional Ram Box in case you need extra storage.
There is even a mount for an additional camera in case you want to keep an eye on the cargo. Finally, the projector headlights along with LED daytime running lights are both on par with the rest of the lineup.
Interior of Ram 2500 Tradesman
On the inside, the 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman is the jack of all trades, carrying over a number of key features from previous year’s goodie selection.
The standard materials are vinyl and cloth for the seats, although if you want the leather, you can get it, for extra cash and on demand, of course. There is ample room for six people, especially legroom.
The driving experience is what you would expect, but the standard 8.4-inch touchscreen delivers all the infotainment magic that the Uconnect system can bring to the table.
There is also a 7-inch display in the gauge cluster for other, more driving-related topics.
The engine powering the 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman is a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, making it one of the largest in the entire lineup, at least when it comes to gasoline engines.
With 410 hp at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm, the only thing keeping it from burning its fuel tank in minutes is the cylinder deactivation and valve timing for the engine.
With a 6-speed automatic transmission but with option to manually keep the gears in check, it seems to offer the best of both worlds.
