Peugeot is well known for making ridiculous looking concepts every few years. Their latest one isn’t so unusual though. In fact the 2017 Peugeot Instinct Concept is a rather impressive design which is not that far off from a production vehicle. The car features a really impressive design and it showcases Peugeot’s latest innovations. It also showcases their first autonomous concept which is meant to showcase how driving a car will be in 2025. Unfortunately, like with most of their other concepts, it is highly unlikely for the Instinct Concept to ever go into production. Luckily though, its design may inspire their future models, so not everything is lost.
A connected car?
The Instinct is meant as a connected vehicle which communicates with the driver’s home, smartwatch or even smartphone in order to make the best possible decisions. The car can check the weather and traffic and the house can set the alarm for getting up earlier and leave earlier from home.
The car will be able to deliver the latest news and it will be able to drive itself while the driver has its morning meeting. However, this is not everything there is to it. In fact the 2017 Peugeot Instinct Concept also features a soft autonomous driving system as well as a fully manual mode. These will allow the driver to enjoy the great chassis and engine at times without having to worry all that much about its safety.
The design – a glimpse into the future
As we said, this concept may be in fact what Peugeot is preparing for us in the future. The car manages to combine part of their current styling as well as it brings quite a few new cues to create something rather unique. Unlike some of their other concepts, the Instinct features a shooting brake concept and it is not as large as its predecessors.
er than the regular hatchback. It features 4 doors and four individual seats and it sits on massive wheels which really complete the way it looks. The car’s long hood and sloped roof make it seem more like a sports car than a hatch. This trend may continue in Peugeot’s future cars in which case they could become one of the most appreciated manufacturers in the World.
Inside the 2017 Peugeot Instinct Concept
This being a concept it means that the interior is not really meant for production. There are four individual seats and the entire upholstery is the same that you would find in a luxury home. Everything is soft to the touch and the cold aluminum coupled with real wood make for a really nice contrast. The seats include integrated headrests made out of a soft material which should keep the passengers comfortable and safe.

Even though it might look like a high powered four-door hyper-car, the Instinct is actually a plug-in hybrid. The car features 300 horsepower from an undisclosed system which likely drives the front wheels. Even though the don’t have something similar for a production model, it is safe to assume they might offer a similar engine in the near future.
A 300 horsepower hybrid powertrain, likely using Peugeot’s 1.6 liter turbo-four, could power one of their future hot-hatchbacks. Even though Peugeot hasn’t released any performance specs about the Instinct, it is safe to assume the car is more than capable to hold its own.
300 horsepower are more than enough for a 0 to 60 MPH time of less than 5 seconds with a top speed of around 150 MPH. The electric part of the car is likely able to maintain highway speeds for quite some time while in the city it would allow the Instinct to run emissions free.
