Released in 2014, the new Audi TT became one of the best selling cars in its class thanks to its bold styling and great engine choices. Also, those wanting more power could always turn to the S or RS versions of the car. In order to give people a few more options though, not that long ago the 2017 Audi TT Coupe S Line Competition has been announced.
The car is set to debut at the end of the year in most of Europe and it will likely become available everywhere else soon after. At this point it still is unclear if the US market will be included but it is safe to assume that it will.
What is it?
Like we suggested, the Competition package adds a bit of character to the car. The drivetrain as well as most of the interior has been left unchanged.
These upgrades are meant to make the car look a bit more in line with the S model while being priced at a fraction of the cost.
When it will be released in the upcoming months, the car is set to cost €42,000 in Germany which is a bit more than what the regular version costs. However, it also gets a lot more gear, so the actual value for money increases with this particular model.
It is also worth mentioning that the car will most likely be available for a very limited amount of time which will allow it to retain its value better in time.
How does it look?
Well, the 2017 Audi TT Coupe S Line Competition model will come, as standard, with 19 inch five-spoke rims finished in silver with gloss black inserts.
There will be a few color options available such as gray, tango red as well as Audi’s new Ara blue color. The calipers will be painted red no matter the color choice though.
In order to aid its design even further, the car will also get a small fixed rear wing finished in black, black painted mirrors, grilles and inserts.
All of these will make it look a bit more aggressive than the regular model. Both the coupe and the roadster will sit 10mm lower thanks to slightly lower springs and there will be a slightly more aggressive exhaust system, similar to that on the regular S-line.
No matter the model of choice, there is not much change on the interior. Here, both versions of the car get the same electric front seats wrapped in leather.
These will sport the Competition badge on the headrests but that’s about it. As standard the car will also receive the 12.3 inch LCD screen instead of the usual instrument cluster which will allow the driver to customize its experience.
The 2017 Audi TT Coupe S Line Competition will only be available with a single engine. This is a bit drastic but it is understandable considering all the other engines get different trim levels.
The engine is the 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 petrol mill offering 230 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. The engine offers a really wide rpm range and it will also offer decent fuel economy.
In most of Europe the car will be available with either a six speed manual gearbox or with a six speed S-tronic automatic. For the manual, the car will come with front wheel drive. The quattro all wheel drive system is only available with the automatic and only on this version.
In any case, the car will be using roughly the same amount of fuel while the performance level is similar as well. Unfortunately the great 2 liter TDI diesel engine is unavailable for this model and it doesn’t look like it will become available anytime soon.
