Infiniti is well known for making luxury cars and their SUV line makes no exception. The 2016 Infiniti QX80 is the evolution of the QX56, a full size body on frame SUV which can not only go pretty much anywhere but it can also do it in style. The 2016 model is set to be quite a big upgrade which will not only bring a slightly more up to date look but also a new type of powertrain as well as a few upgrades to the interior of the car.
2016 Infiniti QX80 Review
The chassis will remain the same but the body will drop around 100 to 200 pounds in weight thanks to the fact that a few body parts are now going to be made out of aluminum.
Engine of Infiniti QX80
The biggest change for the QX80 is most likely going to be under the hood of the car. There are now going to be available two different engines, the same 5.6 liter V8 as before which can put out 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft while offering around 16 MPG on average.
The other choice is most likely going to be a hybrid which would allow the 2016 Infiniti QX80 to finally be able to compete with the more frugal offerings on the market.
There isn’t much information available about this engine but the most probable powertrain would use a 3.5 liter supercharged V6 coupled to a pair of electric motors for around 400 horsepower and more than 22 MPG on average.
Just like before, rear wheel drive and a seven speed automatic are going to be offered for the base car.
QX80 Exterior and Interior
Just as we previously said, both the interior and its exterior are going to get a small facelift.
The outside is going to get a new look package which will offer black trimmings, black inserts as well as privacy glass which will give it a more serious look.
On the interior on the other hand the QX80 will continue to offer seven seats as standard, triple zone automatic climate control, satellite navigation as well as a full leather upholstery.
The options are going to include a 19 speakers audio system as well as an electric panoramic roof which will be able to open in two different areas in order to offer the rear seats the much needed sunlight as well.
2016 Infiniti QX80 Price
Just like before, the QX model is going to remain a luxury car, meaning that it won’t be cheap. The base model is expected to go on sale for around $60.000 while a fully upgraded one should cost as much as $90.000 almost $15.000 more than before. The release date for the 2016 car has been set at the end of 2015 or early 2016.
