The new 2016 Infiniti QX50 was shown at the 2015 New York Auto Show with a small number of significant changes mainly to exterior design. The company hopes that these changes will increase the sale for the QX50, especially since previous three years wasn’t so good for the Infiniti.

2016 Infiniti QX50 Exterior design

The biggest change in exterior is the size of this model. The wheelbase is stretched for 3,2 inches and its overall length is 4,5 inches longer, which made a huge difference in space for legroom in second row and it’s increased for 4,3 inches.

The changes also include new front and rear bumpers, LED accents in the headlights and a new grille. Around back, as standard, come LED taillights, but as optional there is Xenon headlight package.

Interior design of Infinity QX50

The interior of 2016 Infinity QX50 is pretty much the same, but the biggest change is the space of the cabin with an extra 8,3 cubic feet of interior volume (now totaling 115,4 cubic feet) and with more space in the second row, a 4,3 inches of rear legroom and 3,9 inches more rear knee room.

The interior is equipped with double – wave instrument panel with an integrated 7,0 – inch display screen. Further more, there is 11 – speaker Bose audio system, navigation and Around View Monitor camera system.

The driver’s seat is 8 – way power adjustability and the front passenger’s seat is 4 – way power. For the driver’s seat there is also an available memory system and power remote fold – up feature for the 60/40 split rear seat.The company offers for all models an aluminum interior trim and as an optional a maple wood interior accents. The upholstery can be in Graphite, Wheat and Chestnut colors.
It comes with four option packages available: Premium, Premium Plus, Deluxe Touring and Technology.

Infiniti Engine design

Under the hood, everythnig seems to stay the same. The 2016 Infiniti QX50 remains to use a 3,7 – liter V – 6 engine which can produce 325 hp and 267 pound – feet of torque. It mates with seven – speed automatic transmission. It can be used for rear – wheel drive or all – wheel drive.

Up front there is double-wishbone suspention and multi – link rear suspention that provide car-like ride and handling. For this model standard wheels and tires are 18 – inch with 8 – spoke aluminum units, while part of the Deluxe Touring package are 19 – inch split – five – spoke wheels.

2016 Infiniti QX50 Price and release date

The base price for the 2015 QX50 is $35,000 so for the 2016 QX50 price could be slightly increased because of changes on this model, but the price will be announced near the on – sale date, later this year.

Conclusion

To be honest, this is an old model dressed up in a new name with a little bit of, mostly, exterior make up and with only one engine option. Will the buyers be attracted with this combination of old with new elements, and will the company’s expectation for increased sales be fullfiled, remains to be seen.
