The 2016 Cadillac Eldorado has been a luxury coupe manufactured by Cadillac all the way since the 1950s. However, the car was discontinued back in 2002 when it just wasn’t good enough for the market. Luckily for us though, Cadillac decided to put that name back in action with the 2016 Cadillac Eldorado, a car which is only at the concept stage but which has a massive chance of going into production.
2016 Cadillac Eldorado Release date and price
In fact, Cadillac officially announced that this car might hit the market as early as 2016 with a base price of around $100,000, putting Cadillac once again among the most impressive luxury car manufacturers in the World.
Unlike most other cars Cadillac is making, the Eldorado is going to gets its own platform, most likely called the Omega. A rear wheel drive, full size platform with some parts shared with the Alpha. Unlike what most people think, this platform might also be used on the next generation Cadillac models such as the Elmiraj or even some unannounced full size luxury sedan.
There aren’t many details so far about this new Eldorado model but Cadillac was kind enough to release a concept of the car which sheds some light on the details. It seems that it will be a 2-door coupe which will only feature 4 individual seats.
These are going to be very comfortable and despite the fact that it will be a coupe, it will feature more room inside the any other car Cadillac has on the market. The equipment level as well as the level of detail inside the cabin is also going to be above anything else Cadillac is offering in order to make the Eldorado a true luxury car such as Bentley and Rolls Royce.
Exterior of Cadillac Eldorado
The exterior has yet to be confirmed but the concept car looks amazing with an ample front grille, long and slim headlights similar to what the CTS has as well as massive unique wheels. The rear end is inspired by the early Cadillac model, so the end result is a very good looking car.
Cadillac Eldorado 2016 Engine
Under the hood of the 2016 Cadillac Eldorado we are not going to see the usual supercharged V8 or even the turbocharged V6. In fact, GM worked for an engine specifically for this car, a brand new 4.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 based on the V6.
This new engine might put out more than 550 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque while offering buttery smoothness to the passengers of the car. It is unclear yet what type of transmission it will get but we presume it will get a modified version of the 8 speed automatic found on the CTS.
