The 2015 Hyundai Veloster is one of the most intriguing cars on the road today and not because it is one of the most powerful or even the better looking cars out there but because it only has three doors, one on the right and two on the left. Hyundai said that they made it like that because the passengers in the rear are exposed to road accidents when they leave the car. This door arrangement also allows it to be more rigid than pretty much any other small sports car out there and thanks to the perky engines, it can also keep up with the faster cars on the road today.
2015 Hyundai Veloster Review
The 2015 Hyundai Veloster is a small facelift of the old model which was released back in 2011. A new car is expected to come on the market some time in 2018. This 2015 model was released at the end of 2014 and it is a tiny upgrade over the previous model. It has the same engines as before, a very similar interior as well as a pretty much identical exterior. The base price remain unchanged with the base Veloster costing around 17.000 dollars while the Turbo goes as much as 23.000 dollars.
Hyundai Veloster Engine
Engine wise, it comes with one engine which is available in three different power levels. The base car has a 1.6 liter inline 4 which is good for 130 horsepower and no more than 150 lb-ft of torque. The upgrade comes in the form of a 140 horsepower 1.6 liter engine which has the additional stratified fuel injection system which also adds around 15 lb-ft of torque over the base car. The top of the range engine still is the 1.6 liter turbo which is now good for 210 horsepower which is an 8 hp boost over the previous car. This will help it get to 60 MPH in less than 6.5 seconds which is a nice improvement over the 2011 model.
Interior of Hyundai Veloster 2016
On the interior there has been work done on the layout of the commands as well as on the materials used. There is still plastic but the quality is better and it is not much softer to the touch. This and the new leather wrapped dashboard on the top end model make it look a lot more expensive than it really is. The major drawback remained and that is the room on the back seats which is still smaller than even some 2 door cars out there.
2016 Veloster Exterior
The exterior of the 2015 Hyundai Veloster is just as funky as it always was. The news come in the form of LED headlights offered as standard as well as a new body kit for the base model which now brings it closer in terms of design to the turbocharged version.
